CARDI B SET FOR LARGER INVOLVEMENT IN WWE SUMMERSLAM
WWE is using Cardi B’s “Up” as the official SummerSlam theme song, but that’s not all. The partnership between those two sides is going to go much deeper than that.
Stephanie McMahon might have already known something was in the works during a recent interview. The Billion Dollar Princess said:
“I think it could be really cool to work with Cardi B. She had a tweet she put out not long ago which was in reference to her name on the show. I think she’s so colorful herself and so vivacious and full of life that I think she would even bring it up a notch in WWE. I think she’d be awesome.”
Wrestle Votes tweeted out after WWE revealed the new SummerSlam theme song. That Twitter account, known for breaking pro wrestling news, said that Cardi B’s involvement with SummerSlam will go deeper than just using her song in hype videos.
WWE SummerSlam will take place on August 21st, 2021, but no location has been confirmed. That Saturday show is uncommon for WWE, but they are looking at several NFL stadiums. Apparently, Cardi B will be a part of the biggest party of the summer.

TOM PHILLIPS RELEASED BY WWE
WWE is making several cuts to their roster and now Tom Phillips is no longer with the company.
Phillips was the RAW announcer, but then he was moved out of that role after Adnan Virk entered the picture. Virk was moved out, and now Jimmy Smith is coming in. Now Tom Phillips is reportedly a free agent.
Tom Phillips has been released by WWE according to Fightful. The company has yet to confirm this announcement.
While not announced officially that Tom Phillips has been let go, he’s the latest in a string of releases affecting backstage personnel and even WWE Studios. We’ve reached out to WWE for confirmation but have yet to hear back. We aren’t sure of the specific arrangement in place for his departure from WWE.
Tom Phillips joined WWE in 2012 and he has worked for practically every brand under WWE’s umbrella. Some fans really liked him and called for Phillips to make a move back to RAW after Adnan Virk’s departure.
We will have to see what is next for Tom Phillips, but he is reportedly no longer with the company. We will continue monitoring this situation here at Ringside News.
WHY WWE BOOKED SUMMERSLAM ON A SATURDAY THIS YEAR
WWE will hold SummerSlam on Saturday, August 21st, 2021. Lots of fans are wondering why WWE made this decision. It seems that this was a choice that they made prior to really locking down a location.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer tried to explain why WWE landed on August 21st this year instead of Sunday the 22nd. He explained that Allegiant Stadium requested that Saturday date, but now WWE might have to move the event’s location while keeping the Saturday event.
“So this is the deal, the reason it’s a Saturday is because the stadium in Vegas wanted a Saturday. However, it may not be in Vegas, but they already have the date. The date’s a bad date because it’s the same as Manny Pacquiao and Errol Spence.”
WWE will not be the hottest ticket in town in Las Vegas on August 21st. They have already agreed to that date, so even if they decide to take SummerSlam to another location the date will remain. They obviously have other things booked for SummerSlam that cannot be worked around.
It is rumored that John Cena will make a return on that night to face Roman Reigns. Cardi B’s schedule also needs to get worked out well in advance. We will have to see if they stick with Las Vegas as the location, but that Saturday date was a request they can’t change now.

CHARLOTTE FLAIR GIVES HONEST OPINION OF FANS CHANTING FOR BECKY LYNCH DURING HER MATCHES
Charlotte Flair is largely criticized for getting undeserved title opportunities and title runs that should have gone to other more-deserving WWE Superstars. This continues to draw the ire of fans as she gets thrust into every conceivable title picture imaginable. Others feel differently and this includes WWE Superstar Natalya.
It is also a fact that Charlotte Flair is one of the top female WWE Superstars in the company and she has competed in many historic matches throughout her career. This includes her feud with Becky Lynch.
While speaking to the LA Times, Charlotte Flair talked about the return of live crowds and how they will chant for Becky Lynch during her matches. Flair stated that it’s only natural for them to chant given her history with Becky Lynch, especially at WWE SummerSlam.
“Given our history, and it’s been two years since our feud, everything happened when she turned on me at SummerSlam a couple of years ago. So, I think it’s natural for fans to do that and it doesn’t make sense to do it to anyone else. I like it because it allows me to play back with them. And I realize, if they aren’t reacting at all, that’s bad. It gives me a chance to play and have a cheeky line.”
Charlotte Flair is set to challenge Rhea Ripley and RAW Women’s Champion Nikki A.S.H. in a triple threat match for the title at the WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view on August 21. We will have to wait and see who will walk out of the event as the champion. Fans are still waiting for Becky Lynch’s return, but that day is getting closer with each passing week.

WHY ASUKA IS MISSING FROM WWE TELEVISION
Asuka is one of the most popular members on Monday Night RAW’s women’s division, and she is a former RAW Women’s Champion. The Empress of Tomorrow was also one of the primary faces of the women’s division on RAW throughout the pandemic. Many fans didn’t like how Asuka was booked after losing the RAW Women’s Championship and they certainly notice her recent absence.
Fans realized Asuka’s absence from WWE television continued and this made many concerned about her status in the company. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Asuka is doing fine and that she simply isn’t being used right now because, despite showing up to RAW’s television tapings, creative has nothing for her.
“For those asking about Asuka, she is fine. She’s just not being used for anything right now. She was at the Raw tapings early but left early since she wasn’t being used.”
We certainly hope Asuka will be able to make her return to WWE television as soon as possible as her inclusion is definitely needed on Monday Night RAW. She doesn’t appear to be injured, so fans might see Asuka find herself back on television after WWE gets over SummerSlam season.

SAMOA JOE HOPES WWE NXT KEEPS EVOLVING & CHANGING
WWE is putting NXT through a few big changes. Vince McMahon’s new vision for the company includes recruiting larger and younger wrestlers. This change could also come with a rebranding and possible taping change. Samoa Joe is well aware of those rumors, and he will have a chance to represent the brand once again as NXT Champion after TakeOver 36.
Karrion Kross is the current NXT Champion, but he is now on RAW. This presented an interesting situation as the black and gold brand is seemingly losing Kross to the red team. Samoa Joe and Kross will battle on Sunday.
While speaking to Sports Illustrated, Samoa Joe was asked about the changes coming to NXT. He hopes it never returned to the days like it used to be, but the brand is always evolving.
“I hope NXT is never the same as it used to be. I hope NXT is always changing and evolving and experimenting and trying new things. So much has been done in NXT, so many barriers have been crossed and so many new, amazing superstars have been introduced. It’s always been a place for experimentation, it’s always been a place for something new. I hope it continues to be that. I hope it’s never the same old NXT.”
We’ll have to see what happens in this case. Keep checking back with Ringside News as we continue covering this ongoing subject, because we never know what will happen in NXT in the months to come as Vince McMahon goes into cost-cutting mode.

THE MIZ MENTIONS BEING INJURED & OUT 9 MONTHS WHILE HYPING WWE RAW RETURN.
The Miz was injured during the zombie lumberjack at WrestleMania Backlash. Many fans were left wondering how long it will be until the A-Lister returns. He was eaten by zombies, after all. It turns out that an ACL injury and having his flesh torn off by zombie teeth won’t keep him from WWE RAW.
WWE will welcome The Miz back for a special episode of Miz TV next week. A lot of fans were surprised to see him back so soon. He won’t be in a match, but having The Miz on television is better than him sitting at home.
The Miz sent out a social media message to hype his appearance after getting injured just recently. He kind of trolled fans while he was at it.
1 day until The Most Must See Superstar is back on @wwe #Raw….wait, what? Did I read that correct? Thought that dude was injured and out for like 9 months? How’s he back already….
We’ll have to see if The Miz comes out on crutches. After all, that knee was injured. The big question is how injured his ACL is. The Miz was supposed to go see a doctor and get that knee checked out, but everyone has been tight-lipped about his condition.
The Miz might be hurt, but he won’t be off television for nine months. Hopefully, his knee is able to heal up so he can get back on the road with WWE in July.
My supporters mean the world to me. Do you have questions or comments about my training? Send me a message, and I will get back to you soon.
RYBACK DROPS BIG TEASE FOR AEW DOUBLE OR NOTHING DEBUT
Ryback is always thinking about his future and he is teasing AEW once again. The Big Guy gets plenty of attention with surveys about where fans want him to go next. He might just arrive in AEW soon enough.
The former IC Champion tweeted out a little animation of himself standing in front of a casino slot machine with AEW logos on it. He didn’t need to put any kind of caption, because that TikTok video sent enough of a message.
Plenty of fans voted for him to go to AEW in those surveys that he sent out. Enough fans wanted him to make a WWE return, but a majority of those polls said that he should retire.
We’ll have to see if Ryback is really waiting backstage at AEW Double or Nothing. Odds are if he was really backstage then he wouldn’t be teasing it like this. Then again, he could be throwing everyone off the scent as well. Ryback is clever like that. Stay tuned.
